Teeth Whitening
Professional Teeth Whitening
Apple Springs Family Dentistry provides many options for whitening your teeth, from professional whitening in our office, to take home trays. If you are looking for teeth whitening in Leander, you’ve come to the right place! Teeth will become dull and stained after years of eating and drinking foods like wine, pasta sauce, and coffee, just to name a few. There isn’t much you can do to avoid staining your teeth, but there is something you can do to remove those stains: teeth whitening at Apple Springs Family Dentistry!
Zoom Whitening
Zoom is a teeth whitening process that uses a bleaching method to lighten the color of the tooth’s enamel. This method is widely used throughout the country and can whiten the tooth by up to 8 shades whiter! Zoom Whitening uses two unique items: hydrogen peroxide and the Zoom Advanced Power Chairside Lamp. The lamp will activate the hydrogen peroxide in the whitening gel, allowing oxygen into the enamel and dentin to bleach the stains away. This method is 100% safe and leaves the structure of the tooth perfectly healthy and unchanged.
Zoom Whitening Procedure
Before the procedure takes place, we recommend a regular teeth cleaning to remove any extra food particles. After that, Zoom Whitening usually takes about an hour to complete. First, we’ll prepare a cover for your gums and lips so that only your teeth are exposed. Next, we’ll apply the whitening gel to your teeth and shine the Zoom light to start the bleaching process. We’ll shine the light for three separate 15-minute sessions, during which you can relax to some TV or music.
Teeth Whitening Aftercare
As soon as the Zoom treatment is completed, we’ll apply a fluoride gel onto the teeth to reduce sensitivity. You’ll want to avoid consuming certain staining foods for a while to ensure the whitening isn’t compromised. It’s also a good idea to avoid tobacco products because they are one of the worst culprits for turning teeth yellow. You wouldn’t want to reverse the effectiveness of the teeth whitening you just had, would you?
Teeth Whitening Sensitivity
Zoom teeth whitening is extremely safe, but it can cause sensitivity in some people. To combat this, we can prescribe and anti-sensitivity toothpaste the lesson the sensitivity. The sensitivity typically will not last for more than a couple of days after the procedure. Teeth whitening isn’t for everybody, and we recommend a consultation with Dr. Tay to discuss your options.
